J. Jason Gale: Terrorism comes in many forms and flying many colors
Re “Blame liberals for terrorist attack” (Letters, Nov. 9): The author suggests there is a war between liberals who believe there are too many white males in America and a “conservative foundation.” He concedes no one has stated this declaration before, but he doesn’t say why. One reason the “war” has never been mentioned is that it has no logical basis.
The letter cites the lack of vetting before receiving a visa for the non-white attacker who killed eight in New York as a case in point. However, a countervailing example, the white Texas church attacker who killed 26, also wasn’t vetted before buying an assault rifle. That would seem to negate his argument. The letter’s author invites readers to call him a bigot or racist. Name-calling will not change his confused frame of reference.
Instead, I wish to point out that terrorism knows no race or specific political bent. Like the foundation of the American experiment, terrorism holds that all men are created equal.
