Warren Council: Denham’s ‘A’ rating means he’ll do whatever NRA wants

Gun violence is out of control in the USA. After each tragic mass shooting, most Americans hope some effort will come forward to examine what can be done legislatively to make Americans safer. Unfortunately, following each mass shooting Congress lets us down because so many elected officials are in the hip pocket of the NRA.

I finally found a simple answer about what I can do to stem gun violence. I can check the NRA rating of a candidate and never vote for a candidate with an NRA “A” rating. Receiving an “A” rating means you are nothing more than a lackey for an organization that endorses weapons of mass murder and vehemently opposes any and all gun safety or gun control measures. They even oppose research to help determine if there are measures that would help save innocent lives.

My Congressman, Jeff Denham has an “A” rating from the NRA, meaning I will not and cannot support him. If we Americans want to stem the tide of mass murder and gun violence we must find a way to voice our concern and take action. Failure to act only allows gun violence to become worse.

Warren Council, Escalon
