Nancy Howard: Thank you to those who bring written words to life on stage

Modesto is very fortunate to have the local production companies we have. Modesto Performing Arts, Modesto Youth Symphony, Central West Ballet, Townsend Opera and Gallo Center Repertory Co., to name some. I do not want to forget any and might have.

Thank you to the Gallo Center, artistic director Jim Johnson, director Heike Hambly, the production team and cast for a wonderful production of “The Miracle Worker” – a play that is appropriate in any year and for all ages. The actors played each part beautifully with care and attention to time and place – especially the young Helen, played remarkably by Jade Seymour, and her teacher, played by Melissa Dawn. Thanks also for the spectacular venue.

This company is presenting this play to school-age groups. It’s wonderful that these groups and the Gallo make this opportunity available.

Thank you to all involved for a meaningful rendition of this exceptional story. It is good that we get to be reminded of the bravery of many people with disabilities and show a side of life that many would not see if not for these written words brought to life.

Nancy Howard, Modesto
