Morgan Landeros-Anderson: I prefer homegrown candidates for school board
As a high school senior, I feel that I must not only speak up but stand up for what is right. We have choices in the upcoming election. The ballots have arrived in my mailbox. I see a person who is running for Stanislaus County Board of Education apparently out of some new found conviction. A person who is a recent Bay Area transplant who knows nothing of our local system and our way of life now wants to govern our school system and promote issues that do not represent our local needs and education platforms.
Why would anyone leave a high-end, cutting-edge industry in the Bay Area to be on our county school board? Hidden agenda? Juan Vasquez is not qualified.
I will be having children of my own in the not-so-far-out future, and I do not want to have them raised in a school system that does not represent my values. We need local, common sense morals guiding our education system – not snowflake antics.
