Michael A. Clarke: Who will benefit from Trump tax plan? Trump

Aside from trying to erase all of President Obama’s achievements, what motivates Donald Trump and his Republican followers? After failing to take health care away from millions of people, they now are promoting a new budget that, if passed, will add to the deficit and hurt everyone except our president, his family and his rich friends.

In their budget proposal they claim Medicare and Social Security payments are the biggest threats to the economy and should be reduced or eliminated (they forget that both programs benefit millions of people who have paid taxes to support them). They are also talking about “tax reform.” Why do Republicans think our current tax laws need reform? Apparently, it’s because under the current system rich folks like Trump pay too much tax, they can’t leave all of their wealth to their needy offspring, and they just don’t want their tax money going to help poorer citizens survive (they need their tax savings to buy more stuff).

To support their “tax reform” program they make the tired, and never proven claim that lowering taxes on the rich will result in more jobs and money for the middle and lower classes.
