David Van Klaveren: Wenger is a water warrior beholden to no hidden interests

The Stanislaus County Farm Bureau strongly supports the re-election of Jake Wenger to the Modesto Irrigation District Board of Directors. Wenger has been recognized by The Modesto Bee as a “warrior” in the fight to protect the water rights of our region.

Many people focus on what affects them on a daily basis. What takes courage is to fight the fight on the unknown and what is truly staring down the barrel. MID is much larger than a power company and irrigation district – it is a steward for our most precious resource: water.

Jake has been heavily involved in developing the comprehensive Tuolumne River Management Plan. This plan will be balanced, sustainable and achievable for the environment, agriculture and the community for future generations. Jake has taken the lead educating the public for MID. This plan is far more balanced than the State Water Board’s plan of potentially 40 to 60 percent unimpaired flows on the Tuolumne River. The state’s plan would devastate our region’s economy.

Jake Wenger is a proven leader. Jake Wenger represents all of MID interests. Jake Wenger is beholden to no one.

Join me in voting to re-elect Jake Wenger.

David Van Klaveren, President, Stanislaus County Farm Bureau
