Steve Aristotelous Sr.: OID needs change if just to stay out of courtrooms
At a recent Oakdale Irrigation District forum, incumbent Herman Doornenbal stated, “We’re transparent.” In reviewing the facts, questions arise concerning transparency. Doornenbal supported both the ill-conceived fallow program and the water sales program, which led to a disastrous lawsuit for OID. He supported censoring two of his fellow board members and supported the suit against them by OID, resulting in further divisiveness and animosity.
In a previous lawsuit, which just ended last month after years of litigation, OID pursued immunity rather than exoneration and wanted to suppress all evidence. Is that an example of OID transparency? Would OID have continuous litigation if it were transparent? The election of Don Taro will insure transparency and that OID will be headed in the right direction to pursue policies beneficial to all concerned and not for just a select few.
Steve Aristotelous, Sr., Oakdale
