Anthony Taylor: How many de-sal plants could be built for cost of tunnels?
Can anyone explain to me why we are even considering boring not one, but two 40-foot wide tunnels to divert water from the Delta to Southern California?
History proves this will surely have a devastating effect on the environment as well as farms and businesses in the surrounding area. One can be assured the cost for these misguided tunnels will be astronomical. It’s already come to light that funds have been misappropriated to the tune of some $84 million from a government agency which was never intended to pay for this project.
It doesn’t matter what the EPA opinion is or what havoc these tunnels will create. Would it not be more cost effective to build some desalination plants on the Southern California coast to alleviate the water issues in that area? I just don’t get it.
