Steve Guest: If you can spend $10 on beer, you can afford 12 cents for the library
For the last 22 years, every time you spend $10 in Stanislaus County you have contributed a pittance to support the entire library system. That is, every time you drive your car 80-100 miles, buy 2 or 3 gallons of milk, or 3 loaves of bread, 4 dozen eggs, go to the movies, or buy a case of soda or bargain beer, you’ve helped the library. One thin dime and two pennies (a coin that is almost obsolete) is so insignificant; but it’s all they ask. For that portion of $10, we get a public institution that will lend out just about any book ever written, provide fun programs for children and give away computer time all for free. Thank you for your 1/8th cent all these years and please continue by voting yes on Measure S on Nov. 7. We won’t bother you again for 12 years.
