Jean Hendrix: Time for change on Sylvan School District board
First, we find out they are not maintaining the air conditioning system at Orchard School, resulting in a complete breakdown of the system. For over seven years the school board knew of problems with the air conditioning system. Yet they waited until it completely failed, right at the beginning of the school year and during an intense heat wave, to get bids on repairs or a replacement and to figure out financing for a new system. What have they been doing for the past seven years?
Then we find out that the school district is being fined $29,000 a year because they have not used a piece of property they were given. This fine will increase every year. This is a piece of property which could have been developed for school purposes. Instead, it sits unused.
Apparently, the incumbents have not been doing their jobs. It is time to make changes to the Sylvan Union School Board. The election is on Nov. 7. It’s a good time to vote for change.
