Paula McNett: Cartoon showing Democrats in bed with Weinstein wasn’t funny

Your cartoon on Oct. 18 showing Harvey Weinstein in bed with George Clooney, Meryl Streep, Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck and captioned “Consensual” was both misleading and a false equivalency when compared to Donald Trump (which was doubtless its intent).

Though it was commonly known in Hollywood that Weinstein was a rutting pig where women were concerned, it’s doubtful any of these people knew the full extent of his depravity; especially Clinton and Obama, before whom even Weinstein would likely present a less vulgar self. Yes, he gave them all money for films or campaigns, but with the truth revealed do you imagine any of them would now have dealings with this serial sex offender? The answer is clearly no.

Compare this to Trump, who boasted of his inappropriate behavior toward women. Unlike Weinstein – who is now a pariah, disgraced, ousted from his company and possibly facing legal problems – Trump bragged of his abuse of women and still got 46 percent of voters, including a lot of “family values” types and Christians.

I would be very glad to see Weinstein in jail for his rotten behavior. In a perfect world he’d have to share his cell with Donald Trump.
