Don Lundy: Denham’s support for silencers, cop-killer bullets is wrong

I am very disappointed in Rep. Jeff Denham’s support for NRA-backed bills allowing silencers and armor-piercing shells. A committee on which Denham sits approved this legislation last week. He voted to approve it. The bill would have been voted on this week by the full House but it was postponed due to the Las Vegas massacre.

As to silencers, I pass by the firing range on River Road near Ripon regularly and see almost every shooter wearing ear protectors. These ear protectors only cost approximately $15 and it seems most sport shooters already have them. As for armor-piercing shells, I just don’t understand his supporting something that the vast majority of law enforcement think is a very bad idea. Is it time for a new congressman?
