Carroll Manning: Today’s chuckle? Any liberal who calls conservatives ‘wacko’
Re “Let the Southern states secede” (Letters, March 31): I am a long time reader of The Bee and have never written a letter to the editor before. After reading the missive suggesting that the “southern” states should secede, I felt compelled to offer my two-cents worth.
The writer offers the obligatory “it’s Bush’s fault” to excuse the inept or lack of leadership under which our country has suffered the past 6 1/2 years. He even suggested execution for the 47 senators who dared to challenge President Obama’s actions in his (unconstitutional) secretive talks with Iran. Maybe this letter was written in jest. Maybe!
In addition to The Bee becoming more left-leaning, another disappointment for me is the elimination of “Today’s Chuckle,” a humorous little cartoon which appeared daily for many years. My chuckle for today is that the letter writer and many of his fellow extremist Obama apologists have the nerve to refer to anyone who holds conservative views as “wackos.”
