Anthony Rodin: Doing a road project the right way
This letter is to praise the work of those overseeing the Claribel Road widening project. I’m a third-generation family farmer with land at the corner of Oakdale and Claribel. My proximity to the project could have meant inconvenience and stress. Instead my experiences with the representatives of George Reed, Inc.; Stanislaus County, and Modesto Irrigation District have been marked by consideration and attempts to make the process as easy as possible. In particular, I’d like to thank George Reed foreman Greg Rivera, county engineer Barlow Taylor and MID engineer Dave Colby. These men understand that big projects are most successful when the process is collaborative, friendly and marked by strong communication.
When Dave retires we will lose with him a piece of old-school Modesto, a time when things got done with just a handshake and hard work. I’d also like to thank the county for awarding the contract to George Reed, a local company employing local people willing to do what it takes to get jobs done right and on time. At the project’s end I believe we will have a state-of-the-art thoroughfare making travel from Modesto to Oakdale convenient for the first time.
