Grace Joyce: Bullying at school board meetings isn’t surprising

Re “Snide comments are bullying” (Letters, March 22): Welcome to what seems to be a growing problem. Before going on, let me say I am not from your school district, I know nothing of your school board or your superintendent, or if you even have a valid claim. However, you shouldn’t be surprised the superintendent backed the board; who evaluates her?

Board members are supposed to be elected by the people to speak for the people, not hand-fed possibly tainted information by the superintendent – someone just as capability of poor work ethics and dishonesty as any other staff member. I found most board members are interested in the thinking of only one individual, that of the superintendent. Besides the fact that they hired them and will not own up to making a mistake, it makes their job easier.

You are either committed or interested. If you are committed, change the board and put the public back in charge. If you are interested, learn to deal with it, it will not self-correct.

Bullying? You haven’t even scratched the surface. Turn off your TV, attend a meeting, take a tape recorder and watch the entertainment.
