Stephanie Gutierrez: Babies have dramatic consequences for teen girls

Babies are cute and cuddly and they love you, but they are also very needy.

Babies need a lot of attention; they are very time consuming and demand your attention all the time. Most teens do not consider how much pregnancy could impact their lives. Did you know that 3 of 10 teenage girls in the U.S will get pregnant at least once before the age of 20?

Girls, a baby will certainly not make him stay! It won’t make your relationship stronger, either. Eight of 10 fathers will most likely not marry the child’s mother. Teen pregnancy often causes the teen mother to drop out of school; it’s difficult to focus on a test when you’re changing a diaper or feeding the baby. It’s more likely a teen mother would get pregnant the second time around within a year. Everyone should have a plan; think about the consequences.

Not all teens have a bad experience with becoming young parents. Many teens are excellent young parents. If you are already a teen parent, I am not trying to offend you or criticize your decision.
