Linda Miller: Emanuel ER horribly overcrowded; take a blanket

I recently made my first trip to the Emanuel Hospital emergency room in Turlock with my sick daughter. There must have been 50 people in the waiting area. We reached the head of the check-in line by 6:15 p.m. and left the ER at 5 a.m. I am sure they are doing the best they can with the system and staff involved, but there must be a better way. They definitely have the ER understaffed.

I have never seen an ER so backed up and I am a senior citizen. Many around me had also been there for hours. It is really sad for those who are suffering when help is so close and yet so far away. It is kept cold to suppress the spread of germs. Take a blanket and maybe some food.

Linda Miller, Turlock
