Steven Maviglio: Not buying Olsen’s suddenly sunny approach

Re “Olsen trying to spread a little sunshine” (Opinions, March 22): It’s interesting that GOP Assembly Leader Kristin Olsen suddenly believes in transparency when it comes to the legislature. Remember that it was Olson, while a state government worker at CSU Stanislaus, who did her best to make sure taxpayers weren’t told about the $75,000 of their money that went to pay for a speech by Sarah Palin. She received the California Faculty Association’s “Golden Shredder” award for her participation in the coverup.

Given that history, Olsen’s new attempt to allow lobbyists three days to rip apart compromises such as California’s Fair Housing Law, climate change legislation and other bills should be viewed with suspicion.
