Monika Yousif: Keeping a journal is great training for life

Often times, students need to simply sit down and write. Kids who feel freely will do so much more, often creating better written material.

Studies shows that some students have low capabilities in writing or reading and they would rather be working than going to school. Meanwhile, our society becomes more uneducated as kids keep themselves distracted by electronics and all the new technology. That makes it very hard to get high school students back on track with school. High school can be filled with stress and struggles, so writing and journalism can be a way to get through it all.

Once you get used to journalism, you will find that it is easier to organize your thoughts and think more creatively. Keeping a journal is a great way to keep records and to look back on a specific time in your life. Students need to focus on education more because that is the key to our lives.
