Lori Kramer: ‘Kite Runner’ presentation a cultural gem

I want to commend the Gallo Center for the Arts and Modesto Community Concert Association for presenting the Literature to Life stage presentation of “The Kite Runner” here in Modesto. I attended the performance with my local book club, OWLS (Oakridge Women’s Literary Society) and we all thoroughly enjoyed Khaled Hosseini’s portrayl of eight different characters from the story. We had all read the book and were in agreement that Khaled captured the true essence of each character as well as the full scope of this heartbreaking story. The pre- and post-interactive discussion allowed the audience to further reflect and dialog upon the explored themes including redemption and class systems.

Again, I remind myself how fortunate we are to be able to engage in such rich cultural experiences locally. Hopefully in the future additional Literature to Life programs will make their way to our town.
