David K. Ford: Trump doesn’t need a visit from the Warriors to make America great

Re “Warriors should visit the White House” (Another View, June 19): No, The Bee editors didn’t write it, but you could have. So typical of The Bee opinion pages – Trump is divisive, Trump-loathing man goes on rampage. And the solution at the end of this gem: the Warriors can help our reeling nation get to a better place by accepting an invite to the White House.

The nation can get there without them. This same day the Dow hits an all-time high; Amazon buys Whole Foods and a new era in grocery shopping is born. Trump is actually trying to get things done in Washington, create change. I’ve heard people like Greg Popovich, Steve Kerr and Stephen Curry bashing Trump. What I never hear out of them is anything resembling facts or substance. They don’t like his views of minorities or foreigners? What, specifically, are these prominent critics referring to? That’s the part of their tirades I never get.

My wish is that no invitation is extended. The Warriors need to stick to what they do best, playing basketball. Celebrities and sports figures ought to wake up and see that their actions have consequences (see Kaepernick). I have my remote control and I can quit watching.

David K. Ford, Manteca
