Amberlee Addison: Glad Heath Flora fought to help save FFA and other job-creating programs

Re “Career training such as FFA is vital” (Page 7A, June 1): I wanted to thank Assemblyman Heath Flora for taking a special interest in our FFA programs and the jobs they will help provide for our Valley in the years to come. As a millennial who moved to this state from South Carolina, I can appreciate our well-established local agriculture education programs. His article in The Bee, about having to fight to fund FFA and similar programs, hits the nail right on the head. It’s absurd to consider cutting them.

By his own actions in joining the fight that restored CTE funding into the state budget, which is vital for so many of our important FFA chapters, Flora has proven that he cares about the district he represents. His bill to start an apprenticeship program for firefighters further shows his commitment to public safety and education. I appreciate that we have reliable leadership from our local assemblyman who, despite being in the minority party, has been able to pass legislation in his very first year in office. Keep up the good work.
