Abigail Bruntmyer: Message from Abby, ‘Please don’t run over us’

I am Abby, age 9. My grandma lives in downtown Modesto. We walk to the library and to the bus to buy groceries and we always use the crosswalk. Whenever we walk in the crosswalk, cars do not stop. They drive too fast. My grandma walks slowly and I hold her hand. They still do not stop. We almost got run over before. My grandma says they should get a ticket, but there are never any police cars to give them a ticket. They are always busy going other places. My grandma’s friend fell in the street when a car came too close and the car did not stop. They should obey the rules even if the police cars are not there. They could run us over. Please tell them to follow the rules.
