Karen Bucio: Amtrak hired me a cab to get me from San Jose to Modesto

With all the bad press the airlines are receiving lately, I thought I should let people know of my experience with Amtrak. I have always hated driving and only started driving reluctantly, at age 25, out of necessity when I got a job in Ripon but lived in Modesto. I have been driving ever since, for many years now.

Now, I have started experimenting with Amtrak to visit my daughter in Felton. On my most recent trip, the first leg home was on a bus. The bus was an hour late. By the time I reached the second leg, I had missed my connection. There were no more connections until the next day. Talking to the Amtrak rep in the station I explained that I had commitments the next day in Modesto. At that point he called me a cab. Amtrak paid for my cab trip from San Jose to Modesto!

I arrived half an hour before the train that I was supposed to take.

I do not know why my bus was 1 hour late, but I was pleased with how Amtrak handled the situation.
