Mary VanDerostyne: Trump family’s affinity for Russia becoming clear to all who open their eyes
Re “Russia story phony; Democrats know it” (Letters, May 28): The writer stated, “So far there has been no evidence of any ties between the Trump team and the Russians.” Any intelligent person should be aware, by now, of the numerous interactions between Trump’s team and Russians. Consider: the day after Trump fired James Comey, he met with Russia’s foreign minister and ambassador, where he shared sensitive intelligence regarding ISIS, compromising the source. The only way we know of this exchange is through the Russian press, which was present, while U.S. press was excluded. Now consider that Trump’s son-in-law and closest adviser, Jared Kushner, met with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak in December to discuss establishing a secret communication system which would be run out of the Russian Embassy, avoiding scrutiny by our own intelligence agencies.
This meeting was only one of several meetings with Russian operatives Kushner did not disclose when filing for security clearance.
The dictionary defines “patriot” as one who loves his country and zealously guards its welfare. It defines “treason” as betrayal, treachery, or breach of allegiance.
This president is, by definition, a traitor. Anyone who continues to support him cannot call himself a patriot.
