Daniel Marsh: District elections will reshape Modesto City Schools board
The upcoming district elections forthcoming for Modesto City Schools board of trustees will change the political map in the greater Modesto area. District 7 is in the south of the school boundaries and is comprised mainly of Hispanic voters. The active political players, maybe like the Hispanic Round Table, should make sure they back or even select worthy candidates to run for these seats – especially District 7. This will help make district elections a very successful experience this November .
I would not need to remind other former political players who have participated in past the Modesto City Schools board elections, like the Modesto Teachers Association, that they must now do a cross-over and make deals and alliances with the other active parties in this election. District elections are not the same old politics as before.
Candidates will be most likely be new. District elections will, and must, work for the wellbeing of the thousands of students in this large district. Let’s hope those who pushed for these district elections don’t become inactive and silent in the campaign. Please participate and help get out the vote in November.
