Christopher Cross: Obamacare more expensive, offers fewer choices

Re “If you opt out, who pays bills?” (Letters, March 16): Most of us who pay into the system know that the dollars spent toward the Affordable Care Act equals less care. Government equals more expensive! For example, the first year the ACA went into affect I paid 40 percent more per month in premiums for the same insurance. After the first year, my insurance choices continued to go downhill and costs skyrocketed. And, let’s not forget all the lies sold to us by politicians (Democrats). And let us not forget the judicial branch basically changed the law from calling the ACA a penalty to a tax, if you opt out.

If that doesn’t get your blood boiling then maybe this will: Most people are now purchasing a disaster-only plan, and aren’t going to the doctor for pre-emptive problems since deductibles are high. Basically you are always paying out unless somebody has a disaster. The problems we’ve had with insurance in America could have been solved without it having to be run by government. This was a takeover for power and money. This is how socialism corrupts and disguises itself, selling “we care” and “we want to help you.” This is about taking your freedom of choice.
