Allen R. Mitterling: GOP should have to pass an IQ test before being elected

I am beginning to think the Republicans Party in Congress contains some of the dumbest individuals ever to serve in that capacity.

Republicans in the House of Representatives were willing to jeopardize national security by withholding funding to the Department of Homeland Security in an attempt to force President Obama to rescind his executive order on immigration. After that effort collapsed, 47 Republican senators did something even dumber. They sent a letter to the leaders of Iran in an effort to sabotage negotiations the U.S. and our allies were conducting with Iran over Iran’s nuclear weapons program. Since there is no deal with Iran, so we certainly do not know the terms of any deal.

This Congress is losing its sanity. Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., said the letter was really a “message to President Obama.” OK, then send it to Obama – not to Iran. It appeared to be an effort to educate the Iranians on our system of government. But I’d be willing to bet the Iranian negotiators are as familiar with our system of government as the 47 idiots who signed the letter.
