Virginia Mello: President isn’t treated in a very Christian manner

Re “Obama gets away with lying” (Letters, Feb. 16): Really?

I have read and listened to news broadcasts from people, who apparently think freedom of speech means they can say insulting, hateful accusations – using any language they choose – to trash the president and those who were wise enough to vote for him.

Many writers are self-proclaimed Christians. I believe it says someplace in the Bible that we are all God’s children and the Ten Commandments, as I remember, state clearly how Christians should treat others. I also recall learning that the early settlers came to America to have freedom to worship as they saw fit.

The Mitch McConnell-led Congress announced it as their mission to be sure Obama’s presidency was “ruined.” Well, in doing so they have ruined our country.

And I don’t recall President George W. Bush apologizing for lying about the necessity of going to war and ruining so many of our young people’s lives forever.
