Chris Henry: Blame the water woes on LA and the Democrats
I read three articles about the water crises on March 4. We read how Oakdale Irrigation District will have to waste water (due to government regulation) by pouring it into rivers and into the ocean so that we can save some minow with a special name. Then we read how users of our water like Sacramento, the Bay Area and Southern California are all far behind the Central Valley in conservation efforts, even though none of these areas have the burden of feeding the world like we do with our lands. And finally, Merced-area farmers will have no available water for their crops.
As I read these articles, it makes me wonder about something I saw on a road trip to Los Angeles last week. While driving over the Grapevine, I saw Pyramid Lake, which serves the LA area, is completely full. Our lakes and reservoirs are down to horrible levels; for what? So that we can give water to L.A., the Bay Area and some fish? Never mind feeding the world or providing farming jobs for one of the poorest areas in the nation. Let the lakes bleed out! Let California bleed out! Responsibility for all this comes down to one political party – the party of Jerry Brown, Nancy Pelosi, Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer. Unfortunately, this state and it’s media continue to make sure they stay in office, to the ruin of us all.
