Richard Cato: We should help Trump ruin America? Not likely

Ruben Navarrette repeats the conservative plea to come together for the good of the country. Forget the campaign and all its ugliness. We prevailed and now its time to get to work doing Donald Trump’s bidding.

Where was his appeal for cooperation with President Obama? There didn’t seem to be a lot of concern about the country failing if Obama failed. Conservatives actively worked to disgrace and defeat Obama at every turn and were openly proud of their efforts. Spare me, please.

The republic will surely survive even if all of us take to the streets to voice our displeasure with politicians we don’t want in our midst. Regarding Victor Davis Hanson, he should take a hint from Navarrette. Get over it. His side won. Obama did not run and is on his way out. His legacy is in the hands of historians, not him. Victor needs to fire up his rationalization machine so he can explain away all the destruction Trump is about to unleash. This election might go down as one of the more transformative in our history. The level of hypocrisy in our politics is astounding. How do we get used to that?
