Marty Garber: When it comes to geography, Trump was a landslide winner
Why did the Founding Father’s create the Electoral College? There are 3,141 counties in the United States. Trump won 3,084 of them. Clinton won 57. There are 62 counties in New York state. Trump won 46 of them; Clinton won 16. In the five counties that encompass New York City, (Bronx, Kings, New York, Richmond and Queens), Clinton received well over 2 million more votes than Trump. Clinton only won four of these counties; Trump won Richmond (Staten Island). Therefore, these four counties alone accounted for more than Clinton’s winning margin in the popular vote for the entire country. Should a minuscule portion of the country control the entire country? Pretty much the same reason those of us in California believe this should be two states.

Editor’s note: Breitbart News reportered erroneously that Hillary Clinton won only 57 of the nation’s 3,141 counties, parishes and boroughs. According to even a cursory glance, available at snopes.com, that is untrue. Another conservative site, inquisitr.com, reported Clinton won 689 counties. Clinton won the nationwide popular vote with 65,436,708 votes, as of Sunday, compared to Trump’s 62,791,618 – a difference of 2,645,090 votes.
