Robert Chad: Law will help keep plastic bags out of my irrigation pumps

Re “Without bags, expect more theft” (Letters, Nov. 28): The law’s purpose is to reduce pollution in the state of California by reducing the trash filling our landfills, by reducing plastic bags blowing along roadways and everywhere else and, most important for me, by keeping the darned things from plugging my irrigation pumps. The simple solution for the writer is to buy his own reusable bags, usually $1 at the grocery store, that can be reused for months. There are also more durable nylon bags that roll into the size of a golf ball, that can be kept in the glove compartment of a vehicle or in a purse. If the writer works at it, I’m sure he can learn to remember to grab his bags when he heads for the store. A small inconvenience for him, but better for all Californians in the long run.
