Ed Oblauskii: Flags flying from pick-up trucks does his heart good

As I drive around my area, it’s sad to see all the garbage out in the street from people moving or things just being dumped. What puts a smile on my face, though, is seeing our flag being displayed in front of many homes. But what really puts a smile on my face is when I see young men driving their pickups around town with the flag mounted in the beds of their trucks. I salute you.

As a former Marine who served during the Korean War, I see that Dec. 7th is almost here again. I was 9 years old when I watched the attack on Pearl Harbor from my bedroom window. Something I will never forget. Semper Fi.

Ed Oblauskii, Modesto
