Andrew G. Alkema: Hopefully, Trump realizes that more voted against him than for him
I can’t help but wonder at our electoral system. During much of the election campaign, Donald Trump whined about the “rigged” system. Isn’t it ironic that one can say that, indeed, the system was rigged. It was rigged so that the second-place candidate in the national vote count became president-elect and the person with the most votes was defeated. Now Hillary Clinton can join Al Gore and three other candidates supported by more voters than any others who still not achieve the highest office in the land. I can only hope the message that more voters did not want him than did registers. And, the pollsters and pundits who predicted a Clinton victory were not entirely wrong.
