James Wells: Heartbreak of an officer’s death might never heal

Re “Silence reigns as deputy is laid to rest” (Front page, Nov. 23): As Jeff Jardine wrote of silence during Deputy Dennis Wallace’s funeral, my heart was torn so that it may never heal. Each time one of our heroes in blue is murdered, each of us dies a little. Our society is dying when we allow protesters to carry signs that say “kill a cop.” They are saying “kill you, kill me, kill my mother, my brother, my baby.”

Freedom of speech, you say? Signs like this as we can see, are leading to the “Freedom” of killing and the end of society as we know it.
