Michael A. Clarke: Hooray, Republicans will help us turn back time
I never realized the Republican Party was the party of nostalgia. The results of the election show that the GOP wants to take us back to the 1950s when there was only one recognized race (white), two sexes (heterosexual males and females), and three channels (they didn’t have Fox News back then).
It is disheartening to see the Republican leadership happily looking forward to making America in their image and putting their policies in place.
Repeal Obamacare and replace it with RepublicanNoCare – get sick, no insurance, die.
Freedom of religion will mean freedom to discriminate.
No abortions, except in a back alley using coat-hanger procedures.
LGBTQ people go back into the closets.
Privatized Social Security, just because you paid money into it doesn’t mean you’re “entitled” to get it back.
Freedom of Speech, as long as you don’t disagree with the “Lost-the-popular-vote President.”
Build up the military (already the strongest in the world): “Ours is bigger than yours!”
Lower taxes on the rich: The government doesn’t need the money, except for Congressional salaries.
Eliminate Medicare: See “ RepublicanNoCare” above.
The list goes on.
On the bright side, Trump’s victory has made many people more religious. Lots of Americans are praying, “God help us”.
