Mike Moon: Don’t believe it, the OID recall isn’t a ‘grassroots’ effort

I am writing as a concerned Oakdale citizen who was almost a victim of fraud in this crazy attempt to recall a great public servant. I was approached by a young fella who gave the name “Steve,” though no identification was visible or proffered. He asked me to sign his petition, which he said was being circulated in an effort to stop the transfer of water out of the area. When I said I would need to read up on this matter, he aggressively pressed for my signature. When “Steve” was questioned a bit more, he admitted he was hired to collect signatures in this ill-advised recall attempt.

I immediately told him to get off my property and he left. Contrary to what the writer of “Bee biased against OID recall” (Letters, Nov. 17) would have us believe, this is not a grassroots movement to rid the OID of a person who favors “friends, campaign contributors and special interests.”

Linda Santos is simply a problem for OID as she and Gail Altieri have upset the “good ol’ boys” club that has created the “camp run-amuck” that this government agency has become. Shame on those circulating this petition. The way I see it – two down, three to go!
