Micah Millentree: Even this rap fan feels some songs should not be aired

Being a huge rap and hip-hop fan, I am familiar with how lots of rappers use very explicit content in their songs. Though I am a fan of hip-hop music, I am not a fan of the inappropriate content often embedded within some songs. I respect rap as an art, and I see the point of some of the mature themes in the music. But other times the themes are simply there for debauchery.

What rappers publish to sell to the public is their business, but I believe that what radio stations play deservers a higher consideration. The difference between an explicit song and a clean song, for the most part, is just the presence of curse words. The content in most cases can be about whatever the artist desires. I think radio stations should not only refrain from airing curse words, but also songs with mature and controversial themes. Radio stations should start doing a better job censoring their playlists.
