Jennifer McCormick: Republicans never acted like this after a loss
To those Americans rioting (or protesting) Donald Trump’s election: For eight years a considerable number of Americans have been less than thrilled about President Obama and have been patiently waiting to make a change. We had our election, we voted and we won. Republicans are often accused of being intolerant people by Democrats, but that seems to be a hypocritical accusation.
In 2008, Republican John McCain lost to Obama and there was no rioting by Republicans. In 2012, Republican Mitt Romney lost to Obama and again, no rioting. This year Clinton loses to Trump and we are seeing terrible riots that include destroying police cars, throwing bottles and other projectiles at police and attacking people. I do not recall high schools students leaving class to march in protest, therapy dogs brought into classrooms, “cry-ins” offered, “safe-zones” created, or people missing work when Republicans lost.
The world is watching and frankly it’s embarrassing for us to be seen this way. Let’s all unite and pray that God blesses America and its leaders.
