Chris Mendoza: Just like skaters, extreme bike riders need a place for their sport

I want to address an issue that has plagued BMX riders for decades – they have nowhere to ride their bikes in an extreme fashion. Skateboarders, rollerbladers and scooter riders all have a designated skate park they can enjoy. But BMX riders are not allowed in the skate parks without facing criminal charges such as trespassing and/or fines. I faced this issue as a youth and now, 16 years later, my child is facing the same issue. It is time cities within the Valley begin building designated areas for extreme BMX riding, or simply allow bikes within skate parks.
