Shirley King: I deeply respect my nation, but we have elected a man who would be king

I am a 70-year-old woman whose Turlock dad in 1943, at age 18, joined the U.S. Army and was in WWII. He was in five campaigns: Normandy, Northern France, Central Europe, Ardennes and Rhineland. He authorized five bronze service stars and also authorized three overseas stripes – European, African, Middle Eastern theater ribbons. I was raised with great respect toward our flag and country, always standing with hand over heart honoring our flag.

I have always felt it a great honor to vote and I have in each election since I became of age. For the first time in my life, I feel great fear that our country is going backwards instead of forward in keeping America great. Now we have a man, soon to be president, who has shown through his speech and deed that he is a racist, a sexual predator, hateful, ego-driven bully who is full of revenge. He only wants to be “King Trump” to fulfill his enormous ego.

Donald Trump has shown throughout his life that he only cares about himself, putting his name on buildings to glorify himself, not others.
