John Mendosa: Valley supported Trump even if rest of California didn’t
It’s too bad that California’s winner takes all presidential vote rule is in place. If it was a proportional vote (by congressional district) instead of winner-take-all, then the voters of the Central Valley would have added to president-elect Donald Trump’s great victory. Chances of a change with the current California’s communist state government are slim and none. An estimated 40 percent of rural Californians voted for Trump; we are disenfranchised.
John Mendosa, Ceres
Editor’s note: As counting continues, voters in the 16th Congressional District (Fresno and Merced counties) and voters in the 9th Congressional District (San Joaquin, Sacramento and Alameda) supported Hillary Clinton for president. Voters in the 10th (San Joaquin and Stanislaus), 21st (Fresno, Kings, Kern) and 23rd (Tulare, Kern) districts supported Donald Trump.
