Jane Hardin: If Trump doesn’t tone down rhetoric, democracy in jeopardy

This letter is to those voters who helped put president elect Donald Trump to office. I respect the democratic process and the will of the people. I do not respect the tone or threats particularly by xenophobic Trump supporters. We have enough divisions in this country without creating more. I lived through the race riots of the 1960s and I am familiar with the Kerner Commision report that stated we were moving toward two separate societies. Hopefully, Trump and his followers will tone down the language so that we can function together as a united society regardless of our differences.

If not, democracy as we know it will not survive.

Jane Hardin, Modesto
