Bill Holly: Letter was critical, but actually made my case for being elected

I thank the writer of “Avoid acrimony, vote for Sabo” (Letters, Nov. 3) for explaining why your vote for YCCD Trustee should go to me (Bill Holly) not to Abe Rojas or Kevin Sabo. She wrote my campaign boils down to a tantrum over library books and buzzwords like “free speech” and “due process.”

I am the only candidate who objected to the secret destruction of 70 percent of our library. She calls it a “tantrum” when I complain that 52,000 of our books were tossed into the trash. After all, she says, it is a “done deal.” By such logic, the Biblical Cain should not have been punished for slaying Abel, since that would not bring back his brother; it was a done deal.

I am the only candidate at MJC who stood up for free speech, academic freedom or the right of accused students to know what they have been accused of doing. If you agree with the writer that “free speech” and “due process” are only “buzz words,” go to billhollyfortrustee.com and click on “platform” to view the ugly suppression of speech at MJC. Trustees are sworn to uphold the Constitution and protect your rights and your property.
