Richard C. Ornelas: This election circus has magicians, side shows and clowns

Our 2016 campaign started over a year ago and this entire process reminds me of the circus coming to town. We have the Big Top in the center and two smaller tents on either side. On the left is the concession stand and gift store. Drinks, food, candy, balloons run by a Hillary lookalike and special interest groups along with fortune tellers, magicians and face painters. On the right is the clown tent. There we have Chris Christie, Rudy Giuliani and Sarah Palin clowns, along with a rude, loud and obnoxious orange-headed Donald Trump. Or is it Alec Baldwin?

In the middle is the main event, the big show, the election. As Nov. 8 nears, the curtain is about to rise and the crowd is taking their seats. Many have already voted. If you stay at home, and don’t vote, you don’t get to be a part of the main event. You vote is your ticket, so don’t be left standing out in the cool, wet sawdust eating peanuts with the circus donkeys and elephants. Someone please get me a soda, hot dog and some cotton candy. I don’t want to lose my seat and a chance to be part of history.
