James Peck: Gavin Nuisance’s latest gun gimmicks won’t make anyone safer

It’s ironic that our lieutenant governor is sponsoring two initiatives that have opposite effects on safety. He claims Proposition 63 will make neighborhoods safer by licensing ammunition, but then advocates recreational pot which will increase traffic deaths.

Prop 63 is not “common sense” gun control, nor will it provide “Safety for All.” It is an onerous inconvenience to gun owners who obey the law. California has more gun laws than any other state. Have all these laws stopped criminals from getting guns? No. Take Palm Springs, where an ex-felon killed two police. Did all the state and federal laws he violated work? No. A definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result.

California lawmakers pass more and more gun laws which don’t work because criminals don’t obey. Duh! They are outlaws! “Gun control” measures do not affect criminals and therefore don’t make anyone safer. The law-abiding pay the price. Gun violence supposedly made Lt. Gov. Nuisance afraid to go to a park or movie theater. He is millions of times more likely to get hurt or killed driving than he is to get shot. No on 63!
