Michael Restuccia: Denham helped save funding for Regional Transit Center
I am honored to provide important information on Jeff Denham, a member of Congress from my region; a Congressman who has taken trips on the various forms of public transit in his district, including the San Joaquin Regional Transit District, and who is familiar with the people who rely on public transportation.
Congressman Denham provided support for our federal funding applications that helped us build our Regional Transit Center. When transit agencies lost critical funding for buses and bus facilities during the MAP 21 legislation, Rep. Denham helped advocate for restoration of this very important source of federal funding. Thanks to his efforts, funding levels were increased in the subsequent legislation, the FAST Act, which provided funding for transit agencies to start replacing buses that are well past their useful life expectancy of 12 years – some are even 30 or more years old.
Signed into law in December 2015, the act also provides funding stability that America’s aging transportation system needs to meet 21st century demands. I am pleased to support his re-election to Congress
Michael Restuccia, chairman, San Joaquin Regional Transit District, Ripon
