Michelle Park: Nascimento stood up for what was right; Bublak absolutely did not

Amy Bublak claims, “I will always seek the input of our citizens and make decisions in the best interest of our community.” But that was not what she did.

Instead of listening to the vast majority of citizens who spoke at multiple Turlock City Council meetings and wrote letters supporting the Turlock Certified Farmers Market, Bublak continued to push her own agenda (or that of her financial backers), calling for the replacement of TCFM with a for-profit market. The for-profit market has failed and downtown businesses have been dragged through a hard financial time; Turlock was ripped apart by this debacle.

Now Bublak wants to erase your memories and falsely claims she listens to citizen input. How can we trust Bublak when she voted against the will of the people? The “best interest of our community” was not to support the since-failed for-profit market, and most of Turlock’s citizens knew that and voiced their concerns. Steven Nascimento was the only council member who listened to the downtown businesses, asked the hard questions, voted the will of the people and stood up for the hard-working volunteers in this community. He deserves your vote.

Michelle Park, Turlock
