Bob Glover: Flora didn’t fall for Prop 61 promises, that’s why he’s best for Assembly
“If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” This wise old idiom comes to mind with respect to Proposition 61, the State Prescription Drug Purchases, Pricing Standards Initiative Statute.
Most of the main veterans groups oppose Prop 61. As a veterans advocate, Heath Flora, running for Assembly District 12, opposes the ballot measure. If the initiative becomes law, only around 11 percent of all Californians would benefit – prisoners included. Of further consequence, veterans would risk being charged higher prescription drug rates.
Flora is supported by the California Medical Association (CMA), which has a membership of 41,000 doctors. Bureaucratic overreach creates a costly burden for hospitals and patients alike. This is why CMA is among the staunchest opponents of Prop 61. The initiative would mean more red tape for business and fewer investment dollars. It would also have a negative impact on Californians overall economy due to higher taxes.
On a final vote, Flora would make an outstanding Assemblyman – one who knows a potentially bad law like Prop 61 when he sees it.
